About This Treatment
What Is Electrodesiccation?
Electrodesiccation is a precise electrosurgical technique in which a controlled electrical current is delivered directly to targeted tissue. The current rapidly dehydrates and destroys the unwanted cells, allowing the body to naturally shed the treated area as it heals. The result is effective removal of superficial lesions with minimal impact on surrounding skin.
The ConMed Hyfrecator 2000
We use the ConMed Hyfrecator 2000, a trusted high-frequency electrosurgical device designed for accuracy and patient comfort. It is well-suited for treating a wide range of benign skin lesions, including skin tags, warts, sebaceous hyperplasia, cherry angiomas, spider veins, and actinic keratosis.
Our Hyfrecator offers multiple tip configurations to address different lesion types and treatment goals.
The Healing Process
Following the treatment, a small scab or crust will form over the treated area. This is a normal and expected part of the healing process. The scab will naturally fall off within days to weeks, revealing fresh, healthy skin underneath. The risk of scarring is minimal when aftercare instructions are followed, and recovery is typically quick with little to no downtime.
Comfort & Numbing
Topical numbing cream is available for patients who prefer added comfort during their session. Most treatments are well-tolerated without numbing, but we are happy to accommodate your preference.
