Plasma Pen MD

Laser Treatment

PlasmaMD is the leading, compact handheld device employing plasma technology for non-surgical skin rejuvenation, using proprietary ARC Technology as the key differentiator.

Laser Treatment

Skin tightening with plasma technology.

Stimulates collagen and elastin

Skin resurfacing & rejuvenation

Lifting, firming and toning of skin

Improves over all tone and texture

Reduces uneven pigment and redness

Reduces pore size

Combatting the visible sign of facial aging, as the plasma energy reacts with the air between the skin and the device, the result creates a purposeful outcome designed for skin rejuvenation that targets improvement in skin laxity, resurfacing texture and the appearance of fine lines with minimal downtime and maximum results.

Plasma is the 4th state of matter alongside liquid, solid and gas. Plasma is a hot ionized gas. The characteristics of plasmas are significantly different from those of ordinary neutral gases. The PlasmaMD uses ionized nitrogen. A handheld plasma "pen" is held very close to the skin without touching it. It generates low-frequency electrical energy to form a plasma "arc." The arc creates a small wound in the superficial skin, and the heat generated transfers to the deeper, structural dermal layer of the skin. The controlled wound created by the heat will recruit cells called fibroblasts. These cells are responsible for healing wounds by producing new collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. This is why the treatment is also known as "fibroblasting". Fibroblasts take about 3-6 months to finish making the new collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid, so the benefits of plasma treatments will continue to improve gradually.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Plasma Pen MD treatment painful

Typically, a topical compounded numbing cream is recommended to be used prior to any minimally-invasive plasma treatment. Numbing takes about 20-25 minutes for the face and patients can expect minimal discomfort and often describe the treatment as mildly tingly and warm sensations.

How long does the treatment take?

The total treatment time varies based on size and quantity of areas being treated. On average, the treatment is about 45-60 minutes including the application of a topical numbing cream.

What can I expect post treatment?

PlasmaMD ARC Energy visibly gets to work on the treated areas immediately, you'll notice the "carbon crusts" begin to appear as soon as the treatment is over. Because of this, you can expect minimal social downtime, approximately 3-7 days. Your provider will share exact post-treatment protocol based on your skin and size/quantity of areas treated.

When can I wear makeup & resume my skincare routine?

In general, once the carbon crusts flake off completely, you'll be able to resume your makeup application. Follow the personalized post-treatment protocol from your provider.

When will I see results?

Although results are often noticeable once the initial healing process ends, your results will continue to develop. The goal of Plasma Energy is to promote the development of your own collagen and elastin which can create additional improvements in your results the weeks and months following your treatment.

How long do the results last?

Results vary by patient. Many patients and providers report that PlasmaMD and Plasma+ plasma energy devices deliver results for an average of up to 3 years.

Pre and Post Care

Pre-Treatment Instructions

We recommend you avoid sun-tanning, spray-tanning and sunbeds 4 weeks before your treatment. Ideally, you should use SPF40 to prep your skin for 4 weeks before your treatment, especially if you are naturally darker skinned.

Avoid any other type of procedures on the same area which you intend to have treated with Plasma device, such as laser therapy, chemical peels, botox/fillers, as this may prevent your treatment being performed by your technician at the time you want it

Discontinue any use of topical Retin-A products a minimum of 7 days prior to treatment. Use common sense. If the area you're treating looks irritated prior to treatment, DO NOT TREAT that day until the redness/irritation resolves.

No use of chemical peels or laser treatments 4 weeks prior to treatment.

No Botox or fillers less than 3 weeks before treatment.

Remove contact lenses and eyelash extensions prior to treatment. Bring glasses to wear home from the appointment if you are having your eye area treated. Do not wear eyelash extensions until all scabbing is resolved.

Post Treatment Instructions

Clients can resume their activities immediately after each session but may not look their complete best during the healing process (which lasts up to 7 days in normal circumstances).

The area treated MUST NOT be covered with any type of make-up, mascara, creams or other product (outside of what we recommend) until the area has fully healed. Wash gently with mild/gentle facial cleanser twice a day. Any other treatment or wearing make-up could result in unnecessary infections and undesired effects.

Swelling for one to five days after the cosmetic treatment is normal and to be expected. Our Plasma device does deliver shorter downtimes, faster recovery periods and far superior results
