The thought of your face literally peeling off because you chose to have someone put acid directly on it. May not seem like the smartest choice, but when it’s done by a professional its one of the best ways to jump start a skin re-boot. It sounds scarier than it truly is. Peels these days, range from mild to aggressive (superficial to deep) but still, downtime isn’t more than that of a sunburn. So what do you have to lose?
As we age, dead skin cells sit on the surface of our skin, causing the skin to appear dull and lifeless. Light, medium and deep chemical peels have become an intensely popular cosmetic procedure. Used to actaully peel away the skin’s top layer improving the evenness of color and texture in your skin, the result creates a youthful look that restores a healthy, luminous and radiant appearance.
There are multiple varieties of peels, ranging from micro-peels, and TCA peels (trichloracetic acid) to Jessner’s Peels (combination acid peels that target more than one skin condition at one time).
Typically micro-peels are done to target already inflamed or irritated skin helping to reduce inflammation, but also break up the dead skin on the surface, smoothing and brightening with limited downtime. Deeper peels are suggested for lines and wrinkles, changes in pigmentation, and minimizing pore size.
Blue’s peels are custom made for our clientele. Our Blemish Blast is a soft, salicylic based peel that stops active acne in its tracks!! Minimizing inflammation and superficial irritation, this peel will create micro-peeling which feels like dryness and flaking, while soothing bothersome breakouts.
Our Vitalize Peel is our mild to moderate peel, made up of the perfect combination of acids, helping to clear away post breakout irritations, and target superficial pigmentation, fine lines, and overall texture of the skin.
The next step up is the True Blue Power Peel, aptly named, a powerhouse in its own right. Creating a deeper peeling in the dermis, targeting skin conditions like mild scarring, dark patches, skin laxity and overall skin tone and texture.
All of our peels have an average of 4-7 days of downtime. Generally the bulk of the peeling will be about 2-3 days after you’ve done the treatment, and peels for another 3ish days. The I.S. Clinical Post Procedure Kit, and the Skin Medica HA5 are our favorite products to apply after a peel, keeping the skin gently treated but hydrated and protected.
